Create and run the React Native and Expo starter

The React Native and Expo starter is the quickest route to a mobile form0 application. It includes example schemas, native renderers, fonts, supporting images, and local SQLite persistence.

Create the application

Install form0-cli, then initialize a project:

npm install --global form0-cli
form0 init my-mobile-form

Choose Mobile app and React Native + Expo. Enter the generated directory and install its dependencies if the selected package manager has not already done so.

npm start

GitHub's Use this template button is an alternative when you explicitly want a repository copy. The CLI remains the recommended creation path.

Choose a development target

Use an Expo development build for production-oriented work and whenever the application includes custom native code. Expo Go remains useful for learning and evaluation when a compatible SDK build is available for the target platform. You can also run an Android emulator, iOS Simulator, or the web target:

The template requires Node.js 22.13 or newer. Native builds support Android 7 or newer and iOS 16.4 or newer; local iOS builds require Xcode 26.4 or newer. Native emulator and device setup follows the Expo development environment guide.
